What we can help with
What we can help with
Reset Cleans Wellington was created to fill a gap in support for people whose living environments have been impacted by mental health challenges.
Many people find themselves struggling to maintain their homes during periods of depression that affect day-to-day functioning. While professional cleaning services and support agencies do important work, there are times when people have more complex needs or limited resources and can fall between the cracks.
That’s where we aim to help.
As a small, volunteer-led initiative, we provide one-off home resets designed to help people regain a manageable living space.
We may be able to help if:
- Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, or overwhelm have made cleaning, tidying, and household tasks difficult to keep on top of, resulting in a home that has become moderately messy or disorganised.
- Mental health or neurodivergence have contributed to clutter, disorganisation, or a home environment that feels increasingly difficult to manage.
- Everyday mess and household tasks have built up to a point where catching up feels overwhelming, but a one-off reset could help someone regain control of their space.
- A one-off fresh start would make it easier for someone to move forward and re-establish routines in their home.
We are unable to assist with:
- Regular housekeeping or ongoing cleaning support.
- End-of-tenancy, pre-sale, or rental cleans.
- Situations where professional services are needed, such as mould treatments, rubbish removal, and carpet cleaning.
- Hoarding situations or excessive accumulation of possessions and clutter.
- Situations where physical injury, illness, or disability is the primary issue (note you may be able to access help from ACC or MSD).
- Properties that present health, safety, or security risks to our volunteers.
Our limitations
Our Limitations
Reset Cleans Wellington is run entirely by volunteers. We are not professional cleaners, social workers, mental health clinicians, or trained support professionals. While we approach every clean with compassion and understanding, our role is simply to provide practical assistance and a fresh start where we can.
We operate with limited funding, and equipment and supplies are self-funded. For that reason, we must carefully prioritise the requests we receive and work within our capabilities.
Our goal is not to replace professional services, but to offer support where a gap exists and where a helping hand can make a meaningful difference.
If you or someone you know may benefit from a Reset Clean, we’d love to hear from you. If we’re not the right fit, we encourage you to connect with local support services, community organisations, or professional cleaning providers who may be better placed to help.
